Welcome to the Funderburg section of the Howard Colman Hall Creek Preserve. These newly acquired 40 acres are being restored to oak hickory woodland. Our restoration worker Greg has been clearing trees here for almost a year. Greg really likes cutting down trees. The quality of the woods here will improve by removing shade trees such as hackberry and cherry that don't contribute food or homes to woodland animals. Removal of invasive Japanese honeysuckle will also allow more sunlight, which will encourage native flowers to spread. Thanks, Greg!
