COORS FALLS
West Fork Clear Creek fans out underneath sheer, rocky cliffs at Coors Falls. This photo was taken in June, during peak snowmelt.
Coors Falls somehow isn't classified as a waterfall (even though there is no specific criteria for what makes a waterfall a waterfall). It's actually a "rapid" (again, I don't know why) and is a very popular rafting/kayaking spot. In fact, American Whitewater describes Coors Falls as "...possibly the easiest waterfall in the entire state of Colorado."
Whether you are rafting, kayaking, waterfall hunting, or just taking a quick break on your way on US 40, Coors Falls is absolutely beautiful place to visit, especially during springtime. It's hard not to be impressed by the white water that cacsades snd fans 30 feet into a small revine. So take some photos, and leave no trace!
HOW TO FIND THIS GEOCACHE
This area gets a lot of foot traffic. Because of this, the cache may be a bit hard to get to, as it is hidden away from the main trail. With the photos below the cache won't be hard to get to. Without the directions, locating the cache will be significantly more difficult.
You are looking for an ammo can hidden in a hole in the rocks. Inside are a logbook, pencils, and lots of swag! Have fun!
Beginning at the pullout. It is marked in waypoints!
Head right out of the pullout on the trail above. It is the less-travelled compared to the other one.

Walk down the trail for a little ways until you are on top of a small bump that you can see US 40 from.

On top of the bump, head down to the patch of treesclosest to the highway. This is where the cache is.

This tree in particular is where the cache is. It is closer to US 40 and has a bush at the bottom.

A closer look. The cache is now a large metal ammo can instead of the old plastic one. Should be a bit more durable!

The new cache location puts you at the top of the falls, which has some great views. The cache itself is directly behind this photo, about 15 feet away. Have fun!
This is one of the CO Waterfall Series caches, inspired by worldwaterfalldatabase.com and Marc Conly, author of Waterfalls of Colorado. Other caches in this series can be found here!
