St Giles, Balderton

 

ST GILES, BALDERTON

 

St Giles is a Grade I listed building, achieving the status on 16 January 1967.

The church was built in C12th, C13th and C14th with a major restoration in 1880 and also with C20th upgrades.

The building is laid out with a tower with spire, nave, north and south aisles with north and south porches and a chancel with north chapel.

The tower dates from C13th and was built in three stages. It was encased in ashlar during the 1880 restoration. The spire dates to C14th.

The pews with blind tracery and elaborate poppyheads date from C15th with the undecorated remainder of the pews from C19th.

The pulpit is C15th and the octagonal font C14th.

There are 7 monuments that hang from a variety of internal walls.
