McConnell Springs is a twenty-six acre natural park, found in the heart of Lexington.
A party of surveyors, explorers and settlers established a small camp nearby. News of the first battle of the American Revolutionary War reached them in June 1775. The group then named the camp "Lexington" in honor of the battle. William McConnell, leader of the group, later staked his claim on the lands that included the springs.
The park was established in the 1990s after decades of neglect had taken its toll. Since then, much work has been done and continues to reclaim, renovate, and protect the natural features of the park for the public to enjoy.
The park is open during daylight hours. Parking is available inside the park gates during business hours. Otherwise parking can found outside the gates along the street.
