Τρύπια Σπηλιά
Η Τρύπια Σπηλιά βρίσκεται νότια του διάσελου του Σταυρού στη δυτική πλευρά το λόφου του Μαυροβουνίου σε υψόμετρο 520 μ. στον κεντρικό όγκο του Υμηττού.
Πρόκειται για το απομεινάρι σπηλαίου που με κατολίσθηση της οροφής του σε άγνωστη εποχή (πιθανότατα 3ο με 6ο αιώνα μ.Χ) απέμεινε ένα μικρό κομμάτι, σχηματίζοντας μια φυσική ''πύλη''. Η οροφή έχει καταρρεύσει είτε από φυσικές αιτίες, είτε ύστερα από την έντονη μεταλλευτική δραστηριότητα στο σημείο σύμφωνα με τις δύο επικρατούσες θεωρίες. Έχεις την αίσθηση ότι εισέρχεσαι σε έναν ''άλλο'' κόσμο μόλις διαβείς αυτό το υπέροχο δημιούργημα της φύσης.
Ο Ι. Ιωάννου, Σπηλαιολόγος, σε ανακοίνωσή του στη Ζ’ Επιστημονική Συνάντηση ΝΑ Αττικής στο Κορωπί το 1998, περιγράφει την Τρύπια Σπηλιά ως Φυσικό Γεφύρι ως εξής:
‘’Το άνοιγμα της φυσικής γέφυρας στη βάση της είναι 10 μ., το πλάτος 6 μ, και το ύψος ..15μ.. Το κατάστρωμά της είναι 5 μ. επί 2 μ. Πριν καταπέσει ο θόλος υπήρχε σπήλαιο με διαστάσεις 42 μ. επί 20 μ. και περίπου ύψος οροφής 30 μ. Από το παλιό σπήλαιο απέμεινε η είσοδος ως μεγάλη πέτρινη γέφυρα.’’
Υπάρχουν πολλοί θρύλοι που σχετίζονται με το μέρος, κυρίως για νεράιδες που κατακλύζουν την φυσική γέφυρα που σχηματίστηκε από την κατάρρευση του σπηλαίου!
Ο Ι. Ιωάννου αναφέρεται και στους θρύλους που συνδέονται με το πέτρινο γεφύρι:
‘’Θρύλος θέλει να κατοικούν νεράιδες στη φυσική γέφυρα…Βοσκοί άκουγαν τα τραγούδια τους. Νεαρός βοσκός κρύφτηκε για να τις δει. Τα μεσάνυχτα ήρθαν οι νεράιδες και άρχισαν να τραγουδούν και να χορεύουν. Θαμπωμένος από την ομορφιά τους ο μικρός τσοπάνος βγήκε από τη κρυψώνα του. Οι νεράιδες ταράχτηκαν από την παρουσία του και εξαφανίστηκαν. Από τότε σάλεψαν τα λογικά του και παρέμεινε όλη του τη ζωή στη φυσική γέφυρα…’’

Ηοle Cave
Trypia Spilia is located south of Diaselo on the west side of the Montenegrin hill at an altitude of 520 m. in the central part of Ymittos.
This is the remnant of a cave that due to a landslide of its roof in an unknown era (probably 3rd to 6th century AD) remained only a small part of it, forming a natural "gate". The roof has collapsed either due to natural causes or after intense mining activity at the site according to the two prevailing theories. You have the feeling that you are entering another world as soon as you pass this wonderful creation of nature.
I. Ioannou, Speleologist, in his announcement at the 7th Scientific Meeting of SE Attica in Koropi in 1998, describes the Hole Cave as a Natural Bridge as follows:
‘’The opening of the natural bridge at its base is 10 m., the width 6 m., and the height ..15 m. Its deck is 5 m. by 2 m. Before the dome collapsed there was a cave with dimensions 42 m. by 20 m. and about a ceiling height of 30 m. From the old cave the entrance remained as a large stone bridge.’’
There are many legends associated with the place, mainly about fairies roaming the natural bridge formed by the collapse of the cave!
I. Ioannou also refers to the legends associated with the stone bridge:
‘’Legend wants fairies to live on the natural bridge… Shepherds listened to their songs. A young shepherd hid to see them. At midnight the fairies came and began to sing and dance. Blurred by their beauty, the little shepherd came out of his hiding place. The fairies were disturbed by his presence and disappeared. Since then, his reasoning has been shaken and he has remained on the physical bridge all his life.’’
