Geocache Description:

This cache placed by the Ohio Geocaching Association as part of the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail project.

From July 13 - 26, 1863, John Hunt Morgan led a group of more than 2,000 men across Southern Ohio. His mission: to distract and divert as many Union troops as possible from the action in Middle Tennessee and East Tennessee. Union forces under the command of Major General Ambrose Burnside gave chase.

This geocache series contains both traditional caches, and geocaching Adventures. It follows the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail created by the Ohio History Connection. The entire trail can be completed in any order, but is best experienced from West (Indiana border) to East (Pennsylvania border). This trail should be completed during daylight hours, as several of the stops will take you to historic cemeteries. Take care while completing this trail, as many of the stops are along the side of the road.

Be sure to check out the Adventure Lab stop nearby!
