Six months in the making, My Christmas Present to Oakley and local cachers.
Oakley Art Boxes. This one by Brian Riley. Not a new Cache, just had proper coordinates uploaded.
In 2017, the City of Oakley commissioned local artists to paint over 19 of the city’s electrical boxes scattered around the city. Some whimsical but all portraying some aspect of life in Oakley. Wasn’t given the artists’ titles so names are my attempts to be clever.
5 of the boxes are too close to existing geocaches, one is at an intersection still under construction and will be added next year. When I first came up with idea of this project I thought “great, just order a bunch of magnetic caches and it will be a piece of cake”. Imagine my disappointment to learn that they are not magnetic attractors. So I had to come up with a stickier solution. A few of the sites still are not easy to attach so the cache will be very nearby and noted in the hint. All are micros.
This one actually is magnetic.
For the FTF hounds out there, each cache has a different foreign coin inside, see who can collect the most. For anyone wanting to have a picture collection of all 19, message me and I’ll send the coordinates for Hiding Owl, Oakley Heron, Delta Fauna, Birds of a Feather, and Almond Blossoms.
