This gem-themed geocache is tucked away in the Finger Lakes Land Trust’s Van Riper Conservation Area and Whitlock Nature Preserve – home to undeveloped shoreline on the west side of Cayuga Lake. It’s a great loop hike with a rewarding water view. Hikers will see Aurora just across the lake, mayapple lining the trail, and some gnarly grape vines hanging from the trees. Our “Hidden Gem” (one of a few in the region!) can be found at a location with a fabulous view through a few spindly trees.
Do log your visit, and take a little plastic gem to commemorate your win! Feel free to leave a “gem” of your own behind as well.
Many thanks to Jason Gorman at the Finger Lakes Land Trust for granting us permission to place caches on FLLT land.
Happy geocaching!
