Halstead Launch Box
Posted Location: Halstead Bay Boat Launch between St. Bonifacius and Minnestrista.
Halstead's Bay (sometimes spelled Halsted's) is the westernmost bay of Lake Minnetonka. It is in the cities of Minnetrista and Mound, in Hennepin County, Minnesota. It is named for the settler Frank W. Halsted, who migrated to its shores in 1855. Its main tributary is Six Mile Creek that enters the bay from the west. Access to the bay is provided by a public boat launch along Halstead's Drive..
Once you find yourself on the shore and near the public boat ramp (posted coordinates) you will be very close to a "BOX on the LAUNCH". Upon this box you will find several Letters and numbers. Two numbers refer to the Station (LS#) and Four numbers refer to an address. Yep, apparently this box has an address.
For UV; what is the LS#??
For WXYZ; what is the Box's Address on Halstead Drive
Answer the following questions:
- A = U - Z
- B = Y - 4
- C = Z + 1
- D = W
- E = X
- F = V + Z
Now for some quick and hopefully simple plug and play.
N44 55 . A B C
W93 42 . D E F
The FINAL location is NOT too far away, and you should be able to stay dry.
That is all there is to it. You are seeking a regular size container.
I suppose you could stop for a bite to eat, but this can be a really busy launch at time.
