都道府県魅力度ランキング2020最下位の栃木県ですが、ジオキャッシングではとても魅力的な県です。旧栃木県と宇都宮県が合併し栃木県が誕生した6月15日を記念して、2021年の県民の日に栃木にゆかりのあるジオキャッシャーが募りキャッシュを公開しました。

The 15th June is Tochigi Citizens’ Day. Tochigi Prefecture was established on June 15, 1873 with the merger of Tochigi Prefecture and Utsunomiya Prefecture. Celebrating this day, Geocachers loved Tochigi have published caches.

The samurai-zuka Tumulus Cluster is a group of eight tumuluses located just north of the Shimo-samurai-zuka tumulus (designated as a national historic site). There used to be about ten of them, but they are said to have disappeared due to cultivation after the war. With the exception of the first tumulus, which is keyhole shaped tumulus, and the eighth tumulus, which is a rectangular tumulusb, the six other tumuluses are thought to be round tumulus, and while the situation of the fifth and eighth tumuluses has been determined to some extent through partial excavation, the majority of the tumuluses remain unclear. Each tumulus is individually designated.

侍塚古墳群は下侍塚古墳（国指定史跡）のすぐ北側に展開する8基で構成された古墳群です。かつては10基程度存在していたようですが、戦後の開墾等によって消滅したといわれます。前方後円墳である1号墳、方墳である8号墳を除く6基は円墳とみられています。5号墳、8号墳は部分的な発掘調査によって、ある程度の状況が把握されていますが、大半の古墳は不明な点が多くあります。指定はそれぞれの古墳に対して個別にされています。
