This cache is located in the wonderful Akatarawa Forest and has been placed along a track which runs from Titi to Maunganui.
The track is a varied and interesting walk. There are a couple of steep sections but mostly it is fairly level walking along a ridgeline. I have found that the walk from Titi summit to the area below Maunganui usually takes around an hour.
Make sure you go prepared – take some food, a good drink, and some warm clothing as the weather can change very rapidly and is often very different to that on the coast or in Wellington.
There is only occasional cellphone reception in the forest and visitors are strongly encouraged to let somebody know where they are going and when they expect to be back. Carrying a Personal Locator Beacon {PLB} is always a prudent step to take on a hike such as this.
A GPS device or smartphone equipped with offline OSM maps will be a great help as these maps show some of the major tracks in the forest.
The cache is an ammo can which contains a second container which holds a logbook and a pen. It is intended to be a straightforward find and the hint gives specific instructions to it's exact location..
