Eine Wolfsgrube diente in alten Zeiten zum Fangen von Wölfen, welche den Menschen Schaden zufügten. Meistens waren es Wolfrisse beim Nutzvieh, wie bei Schafen, Kälbern und auch bei Wildtieren. Die Wolfsgrube war meistens eine gemauerte 3 bis 4 Meter tiefe Fallgrube, die man mit Ästen, Laub und Moos abdeckte. Lebende Köder, ein junges Schwein, ein Schaf oder Federvieh, wurden als Köder in die Grube gegeben. Die Laute der Tiere lockten den Wolf an, der dann, wenn er sich auf der Grube befand, in diese einbrach und so gefangen wurde.</>

In tempi remoti la gente si serviva di un trabocchetto per catturare i lupi che divoravono animali domestici e anche animali selvatici. Si trattava di un fosso rotondo rivestito di sassi, profondo al minimo 3 metri. Il trabochetto veniva coperto di rami, foglia e muschio. Il lupo, attirato dalle voci degli animali che si trovavano nel fosso come esca, cadeva dentro e veniva ucciso.</>

A wolf’s hole had the purpose to catch wolves who harmed people and animals. A wolf’s trap consisted of a 3-4 metre deep brick - built pit which was covered with leaves, branches and moss. Living lures like piglets, sheep or poultry were thrown into the hole to attract the wolves. The sounds of the animals allured the wolf, which fell immediately into the pit as soon as he stood above it and so he was captured into it.</>
