Geocache Description:

Robert’s Pyramid

This cache is not hidden in a National Park, but you will have to visit one to find it.

Robert’s Pyramid is another of the exposed granite mounds located within the Girraween/Bald Rock area. Atop this mound is a stone cairn, installed in 1866 as part of a NSW/QLD border survey. There are some stunning views from the cairn.

To find this cache, you’ll have to make your way to the listed coordinates:
Use the southern entrance to Girraween National Park – close the gate behind you. Park at the old stone gates and follow the well-defined track up hill, and past a derelict stone cottage. Continue on track past the cottage and after some easy walking you’ll come to a large fallen tree – the track forks from here. Take the southern, less defined track. You’ll soon need to leave the trail and make your own way through the bush and up to the top of the hill. You can do this wherever you like. A good spot we found to start the bush bashing is in the additional waypoints linked to this cache, but there’s no right or wrong answer here.

The listed coordinates for this cache are the very top of the hill. From the top you should be able to see the old survey stone cairn - a circular pile of rocks on an exposed granite slab. Wander down to that and take a waypoint. From here you'll need to apply a projection with the following information:

The cache is hidden 4718 meters away, at a bearing of 275°

You should have mobile service up here, so might be best to do the projection now.

The cache is not hidden in the National Park – you’ll be able to find it as you leave.

You can verify your projection by clicking here.
