This old timer overlooks the beautiful forest from a spot that is a short distance from a fairly smooth forest road. Due to possible changes in road conditions from weather, a high clearance vehicle is recomended. Heavy rain or snow could damage this otherwise fairly smooth dirt road. This Old Alligator can be found on a forest road loop off the Maverick trail.. The southern entrance to the loop starts off the Maverick trial about 2 tenths mile from Shy Hi road. Turn left and wind up the mountain about 2 miles then right about 6/10 mile to Old Alligator. Continue on this road (right turns) and intersect the Maverick trail. The challenge is staying on the correct road as there are several decoy turns that can confuse.
