Geocache Description:

Summer Solstice

Growing up in Minnesota, the Summer Solstice meant a long day with sunlight until 9 p.m. or longer.  In Southeast Texas, I have many friends and family members who embrace winter as a reprieve from the summer heat of Texas.  What is your favorite season in Texas:  Summer or Winter?

Join us for a celebration of all things geocaching - from travel bugs and geocoins to D/T grid quests to that elusive First to Find!

When: Monday, June 21st from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Fun facts about the Solstices:

On Saturday, December 19, two days before the Winter Solstice - the sun will rise at 7:13 a.m. and set at 5:26 p.m. for a total of 10 hours and 13 minutes.

On Monday, June 21, 2021, the Summer Solstice - the sun rose at 6:21 a.m. and set at 8:27 p.m. for a total of 14 hours and 5 minutes.

As you can see, daylight during the summer is just over 14 hours long.  Longer to go geocaching or longer to be out in the Texas heat?
