Plac Grunwaldzki
Plac Grunwaldzki (niem. Kaiserstraße, ulica Cesarska) – dawny obszerny plac, obecnie zredukowany do szerokiej ulicy i skrzyżowania, a także rejon otaczający ten plac, położony na wschód od ścisłego centrum Wrocławia. Od placu Grunwaldzkiego bierze swoją nazwę osiedle Plac Grunwaldzki, obejmujące obszar wyznaczony ulicami Wyszyńskiego na zachodzie, Sienkiewicza i Grunwaldzką na północy, a także rzeką Odrą: Starą Odrą na wschodzie i głównym korytem na południu. Niemiecka nazwa centralnego skrzyżowania (Scheitniger Stern – „Gwiazda Szczytnicka”) i obowiązujące dziś nazwy mostu Szczytnickiego i ulicy Szczytnickiej związane są ze średniowieczną wsią Szczytniki, położoną za tym mostem; dziś mieści się tam Park Szczytnicki. Ulica stanowiąca obecnie zasadniczą część placu, nazywana niekiedy osią Grunwaldzką i przebiegająca przez teren dawnych Nowych Szczytnik powstała na podstawie projektów opracowanych w latach 80 XIX wieku w celu polepszenia skomunikowania nowych wschodnich i północno-wschodnich dzielnic miasta z jego centrum.
Ciekawostka: Pod koniec II wojny światowej na miejscu Placu Grunwaldzkiego istniało lotnisko z którego wystartowały tylko dwa samoloty.

Grunwaldzki Square
Grunwaldzki Square (German Kaiserstraße, Cesarska Street) - a former large square, now reduced to a wide street and intersection, as well as the area surrounding this square, located east of the very center of Wrocław. The Plac Grunwaldzki estate takes its name from Plac Grunwaldzki, which covers the area delimited by Wyszyńskiego in the west, Sienkiewicza and Grunwaldzka in the north, as well as by the Odra River: the Old Oder in the east and the main riverbed in the south. The German name of the central intersection (Scheitniger Stern - "Szczytnicka Star") and the names of the Szczytnicki Bridge and Szczytnicka Street in use today are related to the medieval village of Szczytniki, located behind the bridge; today it houses the Szczytnicki Park. The street, which is now the main part of the square, sometimes called the Grunwaldzka axis and runs through the area of the former Nowe Szczytniki, was created on the basis of projects developed in the 1880s in order to improve the connection of the new eastern and north-eastern districts of the city with its center.
Fun fact: At the end of World War II, there was an airport on the site of Plac Grunwaldzki, from which only two planes took off.
