Il Grand Hotel Dobbiaco si trova all’ingresso della Val di Landro. Una struttura ricca di storia, situata tra le imponenti montagne delle Dolomiti – costruita dalla Südbahngesellschaft nel 1878 con l’intento di sfruttare al meglio la nuova linea ferroviaria che collegava Vienna a Innsbruck.

Di seguito, l’edificio è stato ampliato più volte ed è stato meta del “jet set” internazionale. Dopo anni di gloria il Grand Hotel, con l’avvento delle due guerre mondiali, è piombato nel buio.
 
Nel periodo dopo le guerre il Grand Hotel Dobbiaco è stato sede di diverse istituzioni e strutture e, negli anni Novanta del secolo scorso, sottoposto ad un’ampia ristrutturazione, onerosa anche in termini di costi. Oggi è sede del Centro Culturale Euregio che ospita l‘imponente Sala Gustav Mahler e la Guesthouse.
Qui, dove un secolo fa si davano appuntamento aristocrazia e jet set internazionale, ora si trova un centro di cultura, musica, natura e svago.

Am Eingang ins Höhlensteintal steht ein eindrucksvolles Bauwerk: das Grand Hotel Toblach. Das Haus wurde von der Südbahngesellschaft gebaut – in der Hoffnung, damit die neue Eisenbahnstrecke besser auslasten zu können. Man schrieb das Jahr 1878.

Der über die Jahre kontinuierlich erweiterte Bau zog einst ein elitäres Publikum aus aller Herren Länder ins Pustertal, erlebte nach Jahrzehnten der Blüte aber auch schwierige Zeiten, zum Beispiel während der beiden Weltkriege.
 
In der Folge wurde das Grand Hotel Toblach unterschiedlich genutzt, ehe das großflächige Areal in den 1990er Jahren schließlich aufwändig saniert und umgebaut wurde. Wo sich vor 100 Jahren prominente und betuchte Gäste erholten, entstand nun ein Zentrum für Kultur, Musik, Natur und Erholung.

At the entrance to the Höhlenstein Valley there is an impressive building: the Grand Hotel Toblach. The edifice was erected by the Südbahngesellschaft, the Austrian Southern Railway Company – in the hope that it would attract more passengers to the new railroad line. It was the year 1878.

The building, which was continuously expanded over the years, once attracted an elite clientele from all over the world to the Puster Valley. But after decades of prosperity it also experienced difficult times, for example during the two world wars.
 
As a consequence, the Grand Hotel Toblach was used for various purposes before the large complex was finally extensively renovated and reconfigured in the 1990s. Where 100 years ago prominent and well-heeled guests were relaxing, a center for culture, music, nature and recreation was now created.
