Geocache Description:

This cache is hiiden by a nice marsh area near Meadows.

In another life as a local laborer with the Burlington Northern Bridge And Building crew out of Coleville, Washington there was a beautiful sight here back in 1979. Pilings had to be replaced on a small brdge in this marsh. The 50 Ton Crane was brought in and a perpendicular pile driving boom was attached. A piling was put into place, the boom lowered onto it, and a one cylinder engine was raised to the top of the boom. When the engine was freed it dropped and made contact with the piling. The engine fired on hitting the piling, driving it into the ground and at the same time the force sent the engine up the boom. Then it dropped again and fired once more. As this continued, the piling was driven deeper and deeper into the ground. It was a crisp, sunny, Spring morning. Each time the engine fired, a big puff of smoke came out of a 3" x 9" rectangular exhaust port and immediately formed into a 3 foot wide smoke ring that drifted out into the sunny marsh, expanding as it dissipated. It was beautiful, in an industrial kind of way -- the way the low sun shone through the smoke. Nobody took pictures.

It's a bit of a walk [266 M] from the suggested parking coordinates [N49 11,117 W117 22.695] to the cache but it's the only safe parking near by. Do not park on the highway shoulder. Stay safe.
