Uma abóbora com mais de 60 quilos veio reavivar em 2015 a memória dos Fenómenos ocorridos no Entroncamento em meados do século passado. Acontecimentos inexplicáveis na altura que se tornaram famosos nas crónicas de Eduardo O.P. Brito, também ele um caso singular do jornalismo, ao competir com Fernando Pessa no número de anos em que esteve no ativo, mais de 75.

Perante tamanha descoberta, impõe-se a pergunta: será que a cidade continua a ser o mesmo território fecundo de estranhas ocorrências? O executivo camarário e os estabelecimentos comerciais acreditam que sim e estão decididos a valorizar este traço identitário que teve início com a notícia de um melro branco encontrado, curiosamente, fora dos limites do concelho, na zona dos Riachos.
Depois do melro branco veio a planta que dava batatas por baixo e tomates por cima, o carneiro com quatro cornos, o corvo que falava como gente, o pescador que pescou uma perdiz, a árvore com cinco variedades de frutos, o cacto com quatro metros, o homem com três rins, o toureiro que mordeu o touro, o ovo de galinha com 800 gramas, o pinto com três patas, a couve que dava cravos, a fava com 35 centímetros… as notícias encheram páginas nos jornais nacionais e chegaram ao “France Soir”.

After the white blackbird came the plant that gave potatoes underneath and tomatoes on top, the ram with four horns, the crow that spoke like people, the fisherman who caught a partridge, the tree with five varieties of fruit, the cactus with four meters , the man with three kidneys, the bullfighter who bit the bull, the hen's egg weighing 800 grams, the chicken with three legs, the cabbage that gave cloves, the 35 centimeter broad bean… the news filled pages in the national newspapers and reached the “France Soir”.
