June 14, 2003--Note: When we placed this cache, the logging road was open to the public. We just checked the cache today, and both ends of the logging road have a sign indicating that the road is closed to the public. The logging road may be hiked, but it will be a 3-4 mile hike one way. The road twists and turns, but ends up about .15 miles from the cache. An alternative would be to hike the centennial trail into the area, but we are unsure of the distance.
Madame Bulldog ran a station house near the railroad tracks just north and west of I90 Exit 37. The creek that runs under the interstate there is named after her.
There are two ways to find this cache. The shortest route is to take I90 Exit 34. Then take the service road next to the National Cemetery. Follow it to the Pleasant Valley develpment area and turn on Bulldog Canyon Road. The road that used to follow Bulldog Creek was washed out in the flood of 1972. There has been recent construction to build a logging road that connects Bulldog Creek Road to Vanocker Canyon. The longer route is to take Vanocker Canyon Road to mile marker 11 and follow the logging road.
