Europavei 6 (E6) is a European road that runs between Kirkenes in Norway and Trelleborg in Sweden. The length of the road is 3058 km, of which 2578 km in Norway.
Route determined by UNECE: Trelleborg - Malmö - Halmstad - Gothenburg - Oslo - Lillehammer - Trondheim - Narvik - Olderfjord - Karasjok - Kirkenes.
Before 1985, the E6 went all the way from Rome to Kirkenes, but now begins in the far south of Sweden. The section Helsingborg – Olderfjord on the E6 was intended as part of the E47, but it was allowed to keep the number that was valid until 1985 (in the Nordic countries, old European road numbers were kept until 1992). This exception was granted to Sweden and Norway because the costs of a signposting on this extremely long stretch of road would be far too great.
You can not stop at E6 here! Take the exit at Strömstad N and drive for a while on the old E6.
