Geocache Description:


STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Geocaching adventures uses high-tech satellites! Map reading, compass use, and common sense interpretations of your surroundings are helpful skills. 

This cache is on the Lindsay Pettus Greenway. Please park at one of the designated locations. Closest parking is at the Barr Street access. Bring a pen for signing log.  Also- the container is attached firmly, a little muscle may be needed to get it loose!

The 2.1-mile Lindsay Pettus Greenway lies within the City of Lancaster. It is a hard surface, ADA accessible trail for walking, running and cycling. Most of the trail lies on property held by the Katawba Valley Land Trust for permanent conservation. It runs through beautiful hardwood tree canopy that is replete with wildlife. The trail features an environmental education area with a small covered pavilion for group meetings and classes, a pier overlooking constructed wetlands, a nature path with two creek observation areas, and environmental education panels illuminating the ecology and history of the area.There are benches and bike racks along the route. The trail traverses two city parks that flank Main Street.The greenway lies in a floodplain and is subject to flooding during heavy rains. Be aware of weather conditions. The trail traverses private property in several areas so please remain on the trail.
