A congregation was formed in 1863 for Catholics in Sheridan Township. John (Johan) Trost donated this 5 acre piece of land and the Church of St Henry was built at this location in 1888. The village of Seaforth grew and 1900 St. Mary's Church was established 3 miles southwest of here in Seaforth . The church on this site was abandoned. The church builing was cut in half and moved, one half being used for a dwelling and the other half for a granary. The cemetery was used until a new St. Mary's cemetery was built west of Seaforth in 1941. Many of the graves from this cemetery were moved to St Mary's Cemetery. Only 11 marked graves remain in this cemetery.
Although the cemetery enclosure is located some distance from either road, the entire area west and south to the roads constitute cemetery grounds. The cache is not located on or near a grave.
Near the posted coordinates are the grave markers for the man who donated the ground and his wife.
