This cache is based along the Flitch Way, an old railway line running from the Market town of Bishop Stortford and the town of Braintree. The Flitch Way passes through fifteen miles of countryside with many bridleways and public footpaths branching off from it to new locations. Due to the rise of transport the line was closed to passengers in 1952 but the line remained open to freight trains until the end of 1971 before completely closing in 1972.
The old railway line is perfect for horse riders, cyclists and family walks/runs! The Flitch way passes through Victorian stations and bridges, and it has views of rich woodland, farmland and many of the local villages nearby.
