Graf, NE is no longer an official town but the 1910 census shows a population of 150. As a kid growing up in Johnson, NE I remember coming to Graf (it wasn’t an official town then either…I’m not that old) with my grandma and walking the path of the old railroad tracks picking wild raspberries. Fast forward 25 years and Graf, NE is the reason I got date #2 with my husband! On the night we met he described to me where he lived in Johnson County and I replied “oh out by Graf”. He had never heard of Graf and didn’t believe me that there was an old abandoned town by him. The day after we met, we met up again at his place and went on a little road trip to find Graf, NE! I’m sure grandma never would have thought I would use Graf as a way to pick up a cute guy!

A little history I found…the Graf family moved to the area in 1881 and donated the land for the town in 1910. It had a bank, hotel, two grain elevators, lumbar yard, Methodist church, hotel, barber shop, two doctors, school house, grocery store and more. The post office closed in 1959.
