Brackloon Wood is a hidden gem about 6km from Westport with a 4km circular walk takes you around the wood and alongside the Owenwee River for a section. Leave the track near this cache and find your way down to the river - it is a great place to explore, especially for families and young kids, and another beautiful dimension to this lovely spot.
The Owenwee River is a short river draining the slopes of Croagh Patrick on the shores of Clew Bay and is known for its salmon and sea trout fishing.
