Attention Geocachers! – Ignore the above UTM and Lat/Long information. They’ll only give you a very rough idea of where you are.
To get to the Geocache – in a Rubbermaid container with $25.00 in Canadian loonies and other items – that is located on public property in bushes, do the following.
The first position you must get to is a surveyed benchmark that we’ve rounded to the nearest meter. The cache position was determined using a Trimble Pro XRS and marine differential. Accuracy is + or – ½ a meter. Look for the benchmark in an area bounded by these UTMs. E 478187 N 5365133, E 478157 N 5365056, E 478223 N 5365057 this is a province of B.C. benchmark. From here we’ll give you two choices to get to the Geocache, after you have determined the benchmark UTM.
Presuming the world is a sphere and using the GRS 80 ellipsoid, from the benchmark go 3.884795 km at 359 degrees 41 minutes 15.0127 seconds – or if you want to presume a flat world, from the benchmark go 6.22 meters West and 3883.259 meters North.
Both ways will give you the same result.
