Geocache Description:

Port Clyde was a busy place in the 19 century, a busy port that featured granite quarries, tide mills for sawing lumber, shipbuilding, and fish canning businesses.  By the 20th century the area attracted artists and writers. Port Clydes harbor was originally known as Herring Gut.  The famous Marshall Point Light House is Port Clyde's southern most extremity.  This lighthouse is the one to which Tom Hanks ran in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump. Port Clyde Packing Co., manufacturer ot Port Clyde Sardines.  Employed about 200 people and was the largest employer before the factory was destroyed by fire on September 26, 1970.   Port Clyde has a General Store, Ice Cream store, several very nice restaurants, and is port for the Monhegan Boat Line.  The cache is an easy one, just off the road at the end of the drive way.  As you drive down Horse Point Road, notice the houses, the harbor views, Lobster traps, the Yellow house from the UP Movie (looks like it anyway), tidal ponds, and Lobster Pound.  Take it easy as many locals walk the road daily.  The coordinates has it across the road from where it is really located.
