Welcome to the northern trails of Coralville Lake! In addition to hiking, this area is open to horseback riding and snowmobiling. Please park at the small designated parking area (parking coordinates provided) located near the trailhead (trailhead coordinates also provided). Parking is not allowed in front of the trailhead due to horses entering and exiting this location (there is a 'no parking' sign at the trailhead that is hidden by foliage. Coralville Lake is open from dawn to dusk.
There is another tree near this cache with a huge chunk missing (see additional reference waypoint) where we were planning to originally hide the geocache, but giant spiders living in that tree persuaded us to hide it elsewhere. We kept the cache name for the original tree with the huge chunk missing.
You can stick to the trails most of the way to this geocache. There is some light bushwhacking the final 100ft+.
