Atina (Pazar)
Atina, Pazar ilçesinin Lazca adıdır.
Atina MÖ 64 yılında Pompeius tarafından Athenae adıyla kurulmuştur. İlçenin eski ismi Yunanca bir sözcüktür; akıl güzellik ve hikmet anlamına gelmektedir. 1888 tarihli eski kaynaklara göre, Atina kazasında halk pagan tanrısı “Antas"a tapıyordu ve kasabanın adı da bu pagan tanrısından gelir.
Yerleşik halkının büyük bölümü Laz veya Hemşinlidir.

Atina (Pazar)
Atina is the Laz (Lazuri) name for Pazar. (Pazar means Market in Turkish)
Pazar was founded by Pompeius in 64 BC after the name of Athenae. The old name of the county was a Greek word; which means beauty and wisdom. According to old sources dated 1888, the people of the Atina county worshiped the pagan god “Antas” and the name of the town comes from this pagan god.
Most of its inhabitants are Laz or Hamshenis.
