Geocache Description:

Out and about doing some fishing this fine August day and trying to avoid the "cooties" that just seem to not want to go away. After doing some fishing at the end of the gravel road that leads to Milford Lake, decided to place a cache in this area - had always wanted to butnever had any type of appropriate container on me. Today, after catching 2 wipers and 2 bluegills, decided to finally place a cache here. There used to be a cache placed in general location of this new cache, but it was archived for whatever reasons.

Anyway, this is MILFORD Cemetery - roughly a mile or so north of the town of milford, KS. Two (2) other cemeteries were also moved to this location during the days when Milford Lake was being created.

BRANSCOM Cemetery: this little cemetery had a stone fence around it and one walked to it by fording Farnham Creek, on through the timber and up on the side hill. It was moved to the present Milford Cemetery, however, not all graves were moved to that location.

SHENCK  Cemetery: was located two miles north of the Vinton Church and many of the graves were moved to Milford Cemetery, but not all. It was originally in Riley County.

To get to this location, travel north/south on US HWY 77 between the towns of Riley/Milford, KS. Once you reach the intersection with Cemetery Road (coordinates for the access road), turn west onto the road and follow it around the cemetery. Continue west on the well-maintained road and it will eventually curve to the south. Once you get to the western side of cemetery the road will continue south and end shortly. There will also be an intersection and following that road will take you to one of the more popular fishing locations in Geary County: quite popular during CRAPPIE season in the months of April, May, and early June. Can also catch: bass, catfish, wiper, bluegill, and other fish.

Cache is NOT placed directly within the cemetery, for the town of Milford does not want geocaching within perimeter fence. However, cache is placed near a loan tree of significant size. Nice views of the town and the lake from this area.
