The Birds of Crosswinds - A Geocache Series
This Geocache is one of a series of 12 geocaches that was launched in association with Crosswinds Marsh annual Hobby Day and Birds of Crosswinds Geocache event on August 21, 2021. Each of the cache containers has a unique code in the container cover. This code may be entered into an online form. The theme of each geocache in the series will be that of one of the over 100 bird species that have been observed in Crosswinds.
Little Brown Bat: Do you hate mosquitoes? Do you love things that fly? Are you amazed by what animals can do? Well the little brown bat is just for you!! These amazing mammals (yes, mammals!) are found throughout Crosswinds. Bats are the only family of mammals that have true flight. Their wings are made up of their arms and fingers, with special skin that is stretched between. Bats eat mosquitoes, up to 1,200 an hour!! There are rumors that bats like to fly into your hair, but they are in fact just trying to catch the bugs flying around you. Thank a bat next time you see one.

No fires
No bikes / ATVs / personal watercraft
No swimming or ice fishing
Dogs must be leashed
No alcohol or illegal substances
No camping
Fishing in designated areas only
Collecting of plants & animals prohibited
Park only at N 42° 05.744' W 83° 26.552'
All Geocachers must follow the above rules.
Crosswinds Marsh is open from DAWN to DUSK. Admission is FREE.
This cache has been placed with the permission of Wayne County Parks. Permit 2021-20 has been submitted and is on file at the park office.
