L’Associazione Astronomica Cortina nasce nel 1972 dall’entusiasmo di una ventina di soci fondatori, con lo scopo di costruire un osservatorio astronomico che permettesse di sfruttare al meglio la trasparenza e la purezza dell’aria, che fanno di Cortina una delle mete privilegiate del turismo mondiale.
L'Associazione Astronomica Cortina gestisce l'Osservatorio Astronomico del Col Drusciè, situato alla sommità dell’omonimo colle ai piedi del massiccio delle Tofane, che è dotato di un moderno telescopio Ritchey Chretien da 40 cm di diametro e il planetario A. Dimai, adiacente allo stadio del ghiaccio di Cortina. Osservatorio e planetario sono visitati annualmente da centinaia di appassionati, studenti e curiosi, i quali possono ammirare le meraviglie che il cielo offre da una postazione molto privilegiata.
L'Ossservatorio astronomico del Col Drusciè è situato sull'omonimo colle alle pendici delle Tofane, a 1780 m di quota.
All’interno delle due cupole trovano posto un telescopio Ritchey-Chretien "Officina Stellare" da 16" f/8 per l'osservazione visuale del profondo cielo, dei pianeti e la ripresa di galassie per la ricerca di supernovae, che ha preso il posto del vecchio e glorioso Newton di 50 cm di diametro (in servizio fino al 2015), e uno Schmidt-Cassegrain Celestron da 11”. Un astrografo "Veloce" da 8" f/3 per l'osservazione a largo campo e la ripresa di comete e un rifrattore apocromatico Airy da 5" con filtro Coronado per la visione del Sole in H-alfa sono montati in parallelo al telescopio RC 16".
I soci dell'Associazione Astronomica Cortina si occupano principalmente di osservazioni di galassie per la ricerca di supernovae. Nell'ambito del programma CROSS (Col drusciè Reomote Observatory Supernovae Search) sono state scoperte 41 supernovae e un pianetino, battezzato "Cortina d'Ampezzo".

The Cortina Astronomical Association was born in 1972 from the enthusiasm of about twenty founding members, with the aim of building an astronomical observatory that would make it possible to take advantage of the transparency and purity of the air, which makes Cortina one of the privileged destinations of the world tourism.
The Cortina Astronomical Association manages the Col Drusciè astronomical Observatory, located at the top of the homonymous hill at the foot of the Tofane massif, which is equipped with a modern 40 cm diameter Ritchey Chretien telescope and the A. Dimai planetarium, adjacent at the ice stadium in Cortina. The observatory and the planetarium are visited annually by hundreds of enthusiasts, students, and tourists, who can admire the wonders that the night sky offers from a very privileged position.
The Astronomical Observatory of Col Drusciè is located on the slopes of Tofane mountains at 1780 m above sea level.
Inside the two domes there are a Ritchey-Chretien telescope 16" f/8 for visual observation of deep-sky and planets, and a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope Celestron 11". The RC 16" telescope is equipped with an astrograph "Fast" 8" f/3 for the wide-field observation of comets and a refractor apo 5" with a Coronado filter for viewing the Sun in H-alpha also.
Members of the Cortina Astronomical Association are mainly involved in observations of galaxies to search for supernovae. In the framework of the CROSS (Col drusciè Remote Observatory Supernovae Search) program 41 supernovae and an asteroid, called "Cortina", have been discovered.
