Nyhamns Lotsstation ligger på Lilla Båtskär i Lemlands kommun. Den är en av de bäst bevarade lotsplatserna på Åland där den äldsta delen av lotsstugan är från 1876. Med mer avancerad teknik lades lotsplatsen ner 1990 och flyttades in till Mariehamn.
På platsen finns även resterna efter en gammal gruva. I havet utanför Lilla båtskär finns rikliga malmfyndigheter och i slutet på 1950-talet försökte man sig på att bryta malmen och man byggde då ett torn som hissschakt. Tornet finns kvar men gångarna är vattenfyllda och kvar på ön finns mängder med sprängsten. Tornet fungerade också som fyr till 2007, då den släktes för gott.
Lilla Båtskär och öarna runt om har ett rikt fågelliv. Det häckar upp till 30 olika fågelarter varav den vanligaste är tobisgrisslan, ejder och tordmule. På öarna har man satt upp flertalet små kojor för att skydda de häckande ejdrarna.
Det är fritt att angöra platsen, det finns en fin och djup hamn. Dock bör du röra dig försiktigt då det är stor risk för ras och under våren är det viktigt att du inte stör alla fåglar som häckar.

Nyhamns Pilot Station is located on the island Lilla Båtskär in the municipality of Lemland. It is one of the best-preserved pilot sites on Åland, where the oldest part of the pilot cabin is from 1876. With more advanced technology, the pilot site was closed down in 1990 and was moved to Mariehamn.
The site also contains the remains of an old mine. In the sea off Lilla båtskär there are abundant iron deposits and in the late 1950s an attempt was made to mine the ore and a tower was built as an elevator shaft. The tower remains but the passages are filled with water and there are still lots of explosives left on the island. The tower also served as a lighthouse until 2007, when it was switched off for good.
Lilla Båtskär and the surrounding islands have a rich bird life. It breeds up to 30 different bird species, the most common of which are Black Guillemot, eider and Razorbill. On the islands, several small huts have been set up to protect the nesting eiders.
It is free to enter the place, there is a nice and deep harbor. However, you should move carefully as there is a great risk of landslides and in the spring it is important that you do not disturb all the birds that are nesting.
