Dr Seuss's story If I Ran the Circus describes the plans of Little Morris McGurk to create an amazing world-beating circus in the backyard of a shop. The Circus McGurkus, would be full of incredible performers and bizarre rare creatures like.....The Flummox.
A rare and devious little creature, the life of captivity and circus shows was not for The Flummox, instead they prefer to wander in wild woodland settings, where like magpies they like to collect and hide things. They often set elaborate puzzles for each other as fun, or to conceal their hides, sharing them only with their smartest brethren. Before long, Flummox-rights campaigners freed the circus Flummoxes from Circus McGurkus when it was touring around Falkirk District.
Now freed to roam wild, Flummoxes have repatriated into the woodland environment around the district. They are not be approached carelessly in the wild, Flummoxes are not your friend, they are infuriating, perplexing and mindbending, all in equal measure. They can induce bad language. They tend not to congregate in packs, because the common (or garden) Flummox - genus Aggro Maximus Cerebrum - is a solitary creature. If you are a wildlife enthusiast and want to see one in its natural habitat, you will have to travel across the Falkirk District to find them. Their hides are all within 2 miles of the published coordinates however.
