This cache is part of the Chico Grande series, celebrating the greatness that can be found in our little town of Chico. It was archived after just a few weeks because the flag had mysteriously stopped flying.
Now the flag is back, and so is the cache... but it's a very different hide this time.

Just off a stretch of the Bikeway 99 bike path (but visible from plenty of other places) stands this very tall, very LARGE flag. It measures approximately 30 x 50 feet. It’s a Grande old flag, it’s a high-flying flag! Sing along, everybody!
This is definitely the largest flag in Chico. Or at least the largest that is flying. A similar one was stolen from this location 20 years ago. So, if your friend has a really huge US flag in their basement... well, they may have a story to tell. The theft also explains the looming, spiky-topped fence now protecting the car dealership, along with multiple signs pointing out you are on camera. (The bike path has its own cameras, too.)
The cache is reachable from the bike path. Do NOT attempt to access it from the freeway! It is wheelchair accessible, and great for other wheeled folks, too... bikes, roller skates, strollers, etc. Not cars. BYO pen. Did I mention you’re on camera? (Be stealthy!)
