Lo Zappinazzu è il più grande pino larice attualmente presente sull'Etna. Per raggiungerlo, occorre partire da Linguaglossa e percorrere la strada Mareneve che porta verso gli impianti sciistici di Piano Provenzana. Qualche km prima degli impianti, si nota sulla sinistra un cartello con l'indicazione del grande albero. Percorriamo la mulattiera per poche decine di metri e arriviamo subito alla base dell'albero, dove un cartello ne descrive la caratteristiche: l'età stimata è di oltre 300 anni e l'altezza supera i trenta metri. La posizione dell'albero in mezzo al bosco rende difficile fotografarlo nella sua interezza. Osservando l'albero da vicino, notiamo alcune lesioni sulla parte inferiore da cui fuoriesce della resina dai colori stupendi.
Per la cache superare "U Zappinazzu", sulla sinistra comparirà una struttura diroccata in cemento con un pozzo centrale. Guarda verso la strada e cerca nel cuore della natura.

The "Zappinazzu" is the biggest pine tree currently placed on Etna. In order to get there, go to Linguaglossa (a small town placed on Etna hills) and follow the Mareneve road leading to Piano Provenzana ski runs. A few km before Piano Provenzana, you'll notice on the left a sign indicating the big tree. Following the trail for a few meters we'll quickly reach the tree base, with another sign describing it: the estimated age is 300 years old and the height is more than 30 meters. The position of the tree inside the pine forest makes it difficult to take just one picture of it. Observing carefully the tree, you can notice on the base some resin drops with wonderful colors.
For the cache: leaving the tree behind, on the left, you will see an abandoned dilapidated structure with a well. Face the street and search in nature's heart.
