Geocache Description:

>Update 9/13/2021:  Bumped up the difficulty and terrain by ½ a tick, per suggestions.

WELCOME TO GREEN LANE PARK!

Warning!  Algebra ahead!  Bring paper and pen!

If the cache name doesn't sound familiar, it's from a famous quote by Charles Mann and George Twiss.  (That's one hint for free!)

The coodinates given are to a Virtual Waypoint, your first stop!   A clues is there to solve the final coordinates.

You will take a scenic walk from the Hill Road parking lot and go west on the "Blue Trail" (blue blazes on trees) along the lake.  Shortly, you will divert from the gravel "Blue Trail" to the less-travelled dirt path that is the "Whitetail Trail" (yellow blazes).  See info below (Waypoint T0) about the "Whitehead Trail" -- it's easy to miss.

When you find the virtual waypoint, you will find a two-digit number posted there!   Use your GPS -- There are many numbers on the Whitetail Trail -- You want the number at the waypoint, which is NOT the first number you may see, AND it is fairly close to another number.   The calculations are designed to be very "off" if you do not find the number at the waypoint.  If your calculations are taking you more than 600' away, you have not solved correctly.

Use the two digits of that number in the following calculations:
Let's call the digits A and B. (For example, if the number you find is 56, then A = 5 and B = 6).
Make sure you got the right two digits:   If   A- B2 = A + B, then you have found the waypoint !

Use those values to solve for C, D, and E, below:
C = A3 + B
D = A2
E = C - A

Substitute the values you calculated into the following final coordinates, and put those coordinates in your favorite mapping app:
   40.3D6ED6º, -75.4CCE86º
If you do the math right, these coordinates are the exact cache location +/- 13'.

The cache has pencil and paper (and a sharpener).  I left some trinkets for trading, and I'll restock it as often as I can.
Not many muggles here.  As always, please sign the log and reset the cache as you found it.  Post no hints or photos online.

Congrats to cacher "waterbugme"  for being persistent and acheiving First-To-Find status!

Please post notes here about your experience!  smiley
~~ Enjoy!

After you find the cache, the path brings you back towards the Blue Trail, sort of ... it gets a little wishy-washy.  Fortunately, it's hard to get lost here, even without a map -- if so, just head downhill and you'll find the lake and the gravel path.   If the ground is snow-covered, you will not see the path.
