Some additional history

The Bundaleer Channel System

The Bundaleer Waterworks System was originally proposed in the early 1890s as an additional source of supply to the Beetaloo System. It took almost 8 years for the final approval before, construction finally started in 1898.
The Bundaleer scheme was designed to provide water for the towns of Snowtown, Redhill, Brinkworth, Narridy, Port Wakefield & the York Peninsula. The actual reservoir capacity is 6370 Ml & is a conventional earthen gravity dam, fed by Bundaleer, Baderloo, Yakilo & Freshwater Creeks through 26 kms of concrete lined channels.
The scheme was eventually completed in 1902. It was in full service until 1944, when the Morgan to Whyalla Pipeline was installed this diminished the use of the Bundaleer system.
