One of the more interesting stories from the past, was when the area was being logged for timber.
A portable steam driven saw mill was dragged out on the ice to cut up the logs for boards.
The solid ice made it easy to transport the boards out to the road and off to market.
Unfortunately the portable mill broke through the ice one day and down it went.
It is still down there to this day.
