La Chiesa parrocchiale di S. Margherita da Cortona fu iniziata a costruire nell’anno 1958. L’edificazione della nuova struttura parrocchiale comprende Chiesa, Casa canonica e sala parrocchiale. Nel 1940 era appena iniziata la seconda guerra mondiale e il vescovo Ugo Giubbi fece per la seconda volta la Visita pastorale in tutta la diocesi. Alle ore 11. 00 dell’11 novembre 1940 si recò a Valtriano e, rivolto a quei parrocchiani, quasi tutti contadini, accorsi per la circostanza, manifestò l’idea e il desiderio di vedere al più presto possibile, elevata quella Chiesa a Parrocchia, come è loro desiderio, onde meglio provvedere ai bisogni spirituali di quella frazione, stante la lontananza della parrocchia madre di Fauglia ed il numero sempre crescente di cittadini. Esortò perciò paternamente a pregare il Signore affinché, nella sua divina Provvidenza, disponga le cose perché si possa giungere a realizzare la ‘speranza comune’. Quella speranza doveva però rimanere tale ancora per alcuni anni.. Negli anni 50 fu richiesto – e concesso - con relativo Piano Regolatore l’urbanizzazione di parte dei terreni agricoli ed in questo contesto mons. Felice Beccaro, all’epoca vescovo di San Miniato, eresse la cappellania di Valtriano in Parrocchia.
Considerate le mutate vicende storiche e di organizzazione sociale, il Vescovo chiese ed ottenne il contributo dello stato per costruire ex novo ed in altro luogo la Chiesa parrocchiale di Valtriano, la casa canonica ed una sala parrocchiale. Il terreno necessario per tali costruzioni venne donato alla curia - unitamente a quello per la scuola elementare - dai Conti Gotti-Porcinari i quali, in sede contrattuale, vollero che la erigenda chiesa fosse intitolata a Santa Margherita da Cortona. La costruzione del nuovo ‘tempio’ fu portata a compimento ma mancava allora la realizzazione degli interni, degli elementi liturgici ed altri particolari che non la rendevano agibile per le funzioni religiose. Negli anni successivi per l’interessamento dei signori e della popolazione locale fu realizzata la pavimentazione ed altri accessori. Soltanto nel 1970 si passò a officiare nella nuova chiesa, la quale - nella parte interna - è rimasta ancora in un dignitoso rustico e, anno dopo anno, con il contributo pubblico e privato si va completando di tutti quegli apparati liturgici, necessari all’esercizio del culto.

The parish church of S. Margherita da Cortona was built in 1958. The construction of the new parish structure includes Church, Canonical House and Parish Hall. In 1940 the Second World War had just begun and Bishop Ugo Giubbi made for the second time the Pastoral Visit throughout the diocese. At 11 A.M. of 11 November 1940 went to Valtriano and, addressed to those parishioners, almost all peasants, flocked to the occasion, expressed the idea and the desire to see as soon as possible, elevated that Church to Parish, as they wish, to better provide for the spiritual needs of that fraction, given the distance of the mother parish of Fauglia and the increasing number of citizens. He therefore paternally exhorted the Lord to pray that, in His divine Providence, He may arrange things so that we may reach the realization of the 'eternal common hope'. That hope, however, had to remain so for a few more years.. In the 50s it was requested - and granted - with its Town Development Plan urbanization of part of the agricultural land and in this context mgr. Felice Beccaro, bishop of San Miniato at the time, erected the chaplaincy of Valtriano in the parish.
Given the changed historical events and social organization, the Bishop asked and obtained the contribution of the state to build the parish church of Valtriano, the canonical house and a parish hall. The land needed for these buildings was donated to the curia - together with that for the elementary school - by the Counts Gotti-Porcinari who, in the contract, wanted the building of the church to be dedicated to Santa Margherita da Cortona. The construction of the new 'temple' was brought to completion but lacked then the realization of the interior, liturgical elements and other details that did not make it accessible for religious services. In the following years, for the interest of the lords and the local population, flooring and other accessories were made. It was only in 1970 that the new church was inaugurated, which - in the interior - still remained in a dignified cottage and, year after year, with the public and private contribution it was completed with all the liturgical apparatuses necessary for the exercise of worship.
