This cache was created in homage to This Is Burton Road, a cache by tentament we really enjoyed whilst visiting the Lincon 2021 Mega.
Google Street View (GSV) is a great tool to check out locations before you visit, perhaps to confirm a likely hiding spot for a puzzle cache final or to check the feasibility of a cache and dash. You can also just virtually drive around a new place to get a lay of the land. To access street view fire up google maps, put in the coordinates for this cache, and drag and drop the little orange man from the bottom right corner onto the roundabout connecting Lound, Romney and Burton roads.
You can then drag to rotate your view, and scroll to zoom in and out. The black box at the top left shows the date the current view was taken; click the date to reveal a timeline that lets you scan back and forth for different dates. Not every spot on the road has every date, so you might need to go back and forth a little to find the right date, then go back to the right spot.

The tour starts at the Roundabout near Kirkbie Kendal School and heads out up Burton road.To start with have a practice moving the mouse about and using the plus and minus arrows to zoom in. In the blackbox you will see lots of date options be careful to select the correct month and year to find the correct answers. It's no use driving around now as the details are all now history.
The Tour.
From the roundabout head south along Burton road a little way. Use May 2017 to start.
A= In May 2017 how many cones were around the bus shelter on the left handside of the road?
Continue towards the zebra crossing near the Leisure Centre.
B= In July 2016 how many people were around the pram?
Continue up the road, the Post office is on the right.
C= In July 2016 how many clothes/shoe recycling bins were outside the Post Office?
Continue up Burton road through the traffic lights towards the supermarket.
D= In August 2018 what was the last digit of the price of diesel at Asda?
Just further along up the road is a DIY store. It's changed chains many times over the years!
E= In March 2009 how many wooden sheds were outside the entrance at Focus?
Carry on up the hill to near the junction with Oxenholme Lane.
F= In May 2009 how many people were in the bus shelter?
Further along the road is the junction with Helmside Road, also signed to the railway station.
G= In August 2018 how many initials were in the circular logo on the builders van?
Carry along the A65 to the Texaco garage.
H= In May 2011 how many vehicles were near the petrol pumps?
Carry on up the road to the layby. This is a popular spot for walking over the Helm.
I= In May 2011 how many cars were parked in the layby?
The final coordinates are given by:
54 18.(B+C-A)(A+E+H+F)(D+I-G)
002 43.(B+G-F)(B+D-E-H)(A-B-F)
Now you have the answers to solve the puzzle.
PS: If you take a sharp left up the little lane just past the layby the views open up and you can see Kendal in the valley and the Cumbrian fells, all on GSV. Well worth a real walk though!
