Geocache Description:

Memorial Park has underwent so many changes in my 50+years. Our most fond, and "sick" memories of baseball fields occurred here.  Firstly, there were many of the Plover youngsters, who were the field rats/groupies; whatever you'd call us.  We hung on the fences all the time, often observing our fathers, or brothers.  Then, finally, the west field opened up to girls softball, and the girls in town took off?  We would quickly grow to monopolize all the Plover parks during that era, just like the boys' baeball does in the springtime.

I believe it was truly Frank and Bill that originally drew us here.  Bill taught Frank nearly everything a young man can mentor into a developing boy; Then they played together on those Mens Softball teams!  Frank grew to teach Babe Ruth League.  I suppose that is where I got my example from, as I followed by coaching for 20yrs myself.

Sick, I say, as Frank ran concessions one year, and I got to help.  And, several times that summer I went home sick, from eating way way too much popcorn!   You'd think a kid would learn-ha.

Ice skating as a kid was replaced by skateboarding, which left to find a home at Woyak Rec facility.

The park is still baseball fields--much higher fences now. Some of the bordering trees have survived the last few years storms.

This is a small-medium cache, that  doesn't quite fit its surroundings.  It's aa lovely official geocache container that Rayle7 so kindly contributed.  This cache hide is considered handicap accessible, but you must leave the parking lot, and venture into the lush grass. Lots of red, white and blue sway.  If you've got some to add, please do (staying with the Veteran's Memorial Theme).  Thank you Veterans, and thank you Plover, for keeping this Memorial Park so well maintained over the years.

Permission to place this cache was granted by Tm Davies, current Plover village president.

Please by aware of muggles, and use stealth. Coordination and location of this cache by 3-yr old, grandchild, who loves "treasure hunting"
