Geocache Description:

Located at the summit of Mount Josephine in Grand Portage, MN. One of the toughest hikes in the entire state, but also one of the most rewarding. Honestly one of the best views I've ever seen. You'll see for miles up there - perhaps you'll even catch a glimpse of Isle Royale if you're lucky.

Access is not possible from the highway. It is accessible only from the Mount Josephine trail. The trailhead/parking is listed below. The trail starts off very easy, but when you come to a fork, follow the trail that goes to the left. Once you do, the trail gets much more demanding - about a 700-foot elevation increase in under a mile. There are a few places to sit and take a breather along the trail on rocks and old tree stumps.

If you're prone to get lost, be sure to set waypoints - it can be easy to get lost. That being said, this cache is only about 50 feet off the trail at the summit. My GPS reading told me it was accurate to about 12 feet. You do not need to wander near the edge. I finally remembered to put an FTF dollar inside this one - have fun and stay safe.
