Welcome to Playa Zancudo! We've been coming here since 1999; too many times to count. And since there's a shortage of Geocaches in Costa Rica I am hosting this simple cache series. Playa Zancudo is a fantastic out of the way escape destination. I come here to reset. The beach is long, flat, and deserted, but near here is the best surfing in Zancudo! The houses and cabinas are private and awesome.
In the messed up year of 2020, we bought a house a few short hot miles from this location. The previous owners and builders named it "Shelter From The Storm" and it served as a beacon for us in 2020, something to strive to get to when travel was possible. We came here for 5 weeks to live and work, and it has provided shelter from two hurricanes while here as well.
We've been back twice since, as of this posting in Sept 2021, and it's not only a shelter, but a place where with modern technology, such as it is on this beach, we are still able to keep up with our local sports, such as the Seattle Sounders soccer, Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs football. Sports is good.
Speaking of SPORTS.... This is a futbol field, right in the center of town, just as the main(only) road turns towards the more Tico-populated part of Zancudo, but if you turn to the right here at the AyA sign, there's a long boat dock. We usually have come in this way, or out for fishing trips, and this section of the town always amuses me, with the horrid road, the swampy river shore, and this giant playfield right in town.
The hide is easy, shaded, and out of the way. The roadway is suspect, usually flooded. Do some research before heading out, and you should have no problems with this one. This cache is a simple hide. I want you to find the cache, so please contact me if you have any issues finding it, or for a blatant hint before attempting. Photos and hints should be used. Grab the smilie! You've come all this way, you deserve a smiley. Hopefully it will last but this is a hostile climate. I have arranged with a local business owner to help perform maintenance on the cache should the need arise. They will be able to replace the container should it get lost or destroyed. I will be able to perform maintenance on it myself annually or biannually.
The cache is a silver magnetic nano on the fence. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ENTER THE FIELD TO FIND THIS CACHE. Check the photos and read the hint. Get the smiley, not trapped in the jungle... This isn't meant to be hard. I WANT YOU TO FIND IT! But do be cautious of curious muggle Ticos nearby...
