As of August 2021, there is a new secondary trail to the end of Cape Split. You can still take the original trail, but now you can make your trip into a loop. The new trail has lots of ups and downs and S turns, so experienced mountain bikers as well as hikers can enjoy the trail. This location is the turnoff point to "Lobster Hole", a cove along the south side of the penninsula.
