Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmā no Vecrīgas līdz Igaunijas robežai, kurš izstrādāts ar Eiropas Reģionālās attīstības fonda Centrālā Baltijas jūras reģiona pārrobežu sadarbības programmas 2014.–2020. gadam finansiālu atbalstu, izvietoti 45 slēpņi. Iesakām apvienot slēpņu meklēšanu ar pastaigu pa kādu no 15 ainaviskajiem Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmiem.

Description of the place: Can you imagine, walking along the Forest Trail, that one of the pine trees, which looks just like the others, holds a mystery that has not yet been fully revealed? The most keen-eyed hikers may try to spot the Kauču Pine or Vēstuli priedē (the Letter in the Pine). Here, a piece of the tree's rough bark is torn out and the words of a song are carved into the trunk with a knife in old Latvian script, now partially legible:
“Come, dear girl, to the fight, take the deadly blade in your hand. We workers have suffered a lot.”
When did this happen and why? What did the person to whom this song was important feel? Researchers have suggested that the poem was inscribed in the pine tree between 1905 and 1918, when Latvia was struck by revolutions and the First World War.

The cache is a part of the “The Forest Trail” cache series. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which leads through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The project, which has been developed with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020, includes 45 cache places in the northern part of the Forest Trail from Old Riga to the Estonian border. We recommend combining cache hunting with a walk along one of the 15 scenic sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
