The Skunk ape, also known as the swamp ape and Florida Bigfoot, is an ape-like creature that is purported to inhabit the forests and swamps of some southeastern United States, most notably in Florida where sightings have been reported from as far north as the Georgian border, south to the Florida Keys. Supposed evidence of the creature's existence is based on a number of anecdotal sightings as well as disputed photographs, audio and video recordings, and footprints, etc. The majority of mainstream scientists have historically discounted the existence of the Skunk ape, considering it to be the result of a combination of folklore, misidentification, and hoax, rather than a living animal.

Geocache was placed with permission of Lost Mines of Atlantis
