この神社の創立年月は不詳ですが、棟札によれば、古くは享保13年（1728）の記載があります。
主神は「日本武尊（ヤマトタケルノミコト）」。相殿神は「菅原神（スガワラノカミ）」「武内宿禰命（タケウチノスクネノミコト）」「豊臣秀吉命（トヨトミヒデヨシノミコト）」「天水分神（アメノミクマリノカミ）」。付近に多く鎮座する八剣神社の中で豊臣秀吉を祀っている珍しい神社です。
桜の季節には参道の石段が淡いピンクのトンネルになります。

The date of establishment of the shrine is unknown, but according to the building tag, it is dated as far back as Kyoho 13 (1728).
The main deity is "Yamatotakeru no Mikoto". The other deities are "Sugawara no Kami", "Takenouchi no Sukune no Mikoto", "Toyotomi Hideyoshi no Mikoto", and "Ame no Mikumari no Kami". This is a rare shrine that enshrines Toyotomi Hideyoshi among the many Yatsurugi Shrines in the vicinity.
During the cherry blossom season, the stone steps along the approach become a pale pink tunnel.
