Im doing this cache series based on some of my experiences while geocaching. Ive had some pretty awesome experiences! And ive also had some that almost landed me in jail... I think .. Haha SO here's cache #2 in my series ID like to call
Have you ever heard of geocaching?
*Names have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals mentioned in this story*
Every town has that one crazy guy. This particular guy im talking about is scary crazy. Ive always heard stories of him just being the type of man that would bury a person alive and not think twice of it. I personally would hate to be the one to make him mad. Well call this man Steve.
One fine evening me, my husband and brother in law were attempting to find a cache hid at a local store. Just a little small town gas station. It was a tricky hide. We had all tried our luck at finding it with no luck. So i begin to scroll through previous logs in hopes to find a clue. Im standing beside the store facing the parking lot. The sun was bright so im holding my phone out in front of me squinting my eyes just scrolling.
Meanwhile, steve, exits the gas station slamming the door behind him. He is now standing beside my husband up on the porch to the little store.
As he says, "is she taking pictures of my truck??? Dont she know doing things like that could get a person hurt. "
My husband non chalantly exits the conversation and heads towards me to give me a heads up. As Steve yells "what you doing young lady?"
I reply have you ever heard of geocaching??
And attempt to explain.
Steve looks at me in confusion. And assumes in lying.
Well show me this geocache. Says Steve
Me, well i would if i could find it!
He gets in his truck And continues to stare.
We decide well leave and just tru this one again another day and leave.
Maybe a week later i run directly into this man at the check out line at dollar general. Once i realize who he is its to late.
Him, ever find that thing you was looking for?
Me, no I sure didn't.. And i quickly check out and head to my car.
We go a couple miles down the road and turn on a dirt road in search of a different cache. As we slowly chug along we pass the one and only, yes, Steve.
UGH not again
Me, i hope he doesn't think we are following him. As we pass him i look up and he is staring back. Smiles. And makes the motion as if he is whispering, shhhhh.
My husband now picks on me from time to time about this crazy man who thinks im following him and taking pictures of him.
Sometimes I dont know wether to laugh or cry about it. Hahaha!
SO here is cache 2 located off the side of hwy 9 at a cemetary. I enjoy making them difficult to find so if you struggle feel free to message me.
Also this is a log only cache. Bring your own pen!
And if by some chance This cache stays up and going years after my time I hope my kids find comfort in these caches and remembering all of the small memories we created together. Geocaching will forever and always be "our thing"
